The Hacknime.to project has already hosted 11 successful events, bringing innovation and digitalization across Slovakia. This year, we plan to hold two more hackathons, with the next one taking place once again in Bratislava. The district of Bratislava-Petržalka came up with the idea of creating a digital future for sports facilities. The 12th hackathon organized by MIRRI, funded by the Slovak Recovery and Resilience Plan, will be held on November 15 and 16 at the SKY PARK Offices.
Over the past few years, the Bratislava-Petržalka district has focused on renovating, reconstructing, and building new sports facilities. To make them accessible to sports clubs as well as the general public, they plan to implement a modern reservation system, allowing athletes not only to manage reservations but also to control sports facilities directly through a mobile app. Designing a system that is user-friendly and intuitive will be the task of competing teams during the November hackathon, titled “Smart Sports Facilities Petržalka.”
The aim is to provide automatic control and easy booking of sports venues
As outlined in the hackathon’s published challenge, the expected solution is a “system for making reservations, self-service entry to sports facilities, control of lighting, and other components of sports facilities and their surroundings.” Automating and simplifying access to sports facilities will bring numerous benefits to both the public and the district.
“One of our main priorities is to renovate and make sports infrastructure accessible to sports clubs and the public. We are excited that, thanks to the hackathon, we can show athletes what modern sports facilities of the 21st century should look like. We’ll eliminate time-consuming bureaucratic processes and replace them with modern technologies accessible directly on each athlete’s mobile phone,” said Matúš Súlovec, Deputy Head for Public Procurement and Innovation at the Petržalka District Office.
Financial Reward Awaits Competitors
A total of up to 6,000€ is available for winners of the top three spots. There’s also a popular audience award, where viewers can vote for their favorite team through online voting. The registration link is available on the Smart Sports Facilities Petržalka hackathon website, with applications open until November 13 or until event capacity is reached. Competitors can apply as complete teams, and there’s also an option for individuals to apply, from whom organizers will form additional competing teams or assign them to existing ones.
